چکیده
Samples of submicron WC-Co-Re cemented carbide were produced and examined by different techniques. The microstructure the samples is fine extremely uniform indicating strong inhibiting effect Re with respect to WC grain growth during liquid-phase sintering. Results examination hot hardness at a temperature 500°C provide evidence for significantly higher value in comparison that conventional WC-Co grade. Studies creep rates carbides 800°C indicated dramatically improved high-temperature creep-resistance Re-containing carbide. Carbide / binder boundaries FIB lamella prepared from high-angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscopy energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy high resolution. Rhenium was found segregate forming complexions 2 3 atomic monolayers, which presumably consist mixed W-Re Such are believed suppress phenomena boundary sliding elevated temperatures sintering thus improving material

Development of Creep-Resistant Tungsten Carbide Copper Cemented Carbide
Fine-grained tungsten carbide copper (WC-Cu) cemented carbide was sintered via spark plasma sintering at 1773K using a fine WC powder with a mean particle size of 0.11 mm. The mechanical properties were compared with tungsten carbide cobalt (WC-Co) cemented carbide and a binderless WC-sintered material. The Vickers hardness and fracture toughness obtained by the indentation fracture method for ...
متن کاملDevelopment of Cemented Carbide Tool of Reduced Rare Metal Usage
Cemented carbides, including coated cemented carbides, account for 75% of the cutting tools market because of their features such as high hardness, toughness, and the responsiveness to iron, through the use of tungsten carbide for their main hard phases and cobalt for their bonding metals. The consumption of tungsten continues to increase as the amount of carbide tool production increases with ...
متن کاملTheoretical Studies of the Atomic and Electronic Structures of Grain Boundaries in Silicon and Silicon-carbide
The atomic and electronic structures of a facetted twin boundary in Si and a twin boundary in 6-Sic have been studied theoretically for the first time. The atomic structure of the {211}/{111} facets in Si based on the model by Bourret and Bacmann has been optimised by the Keating model, and the electronic structure has been calculated using a supercell technique and a tight-binding model. It ha...
متن کاملPyrotechnic Smoke Compositions Containing Boron Carbide
Smokes are used on the battlefield for signaling, for marking targets, and for screening troop movements. Many high-performance compositions are toxic or hazardous, while non-toxic alternatives offer sub-par performance. The environmentally benign compositions described herein use boron carbide as a pyrotechnic fuel to produce thick clouds of white smoke. Experimentation and thermodynamic model...
